this special “day of” lingerie set was gifted by the bride-to-be’s grandmother in law. i’ve known her for a very long time and she really wanted something truly special to give to such a special soon to be member of the family. the set was made from replicated alencón lace that was what the grandmother’s wedding dress was made from. no longer having the exact lace to use, together we did some research and found the most perfect bridal lace to use for this set. the bias cut shorts and tank made were the perfect pairing made of our crisp white charmeuse and showed with a short kimono style robe with the same lace detailing on the sleeves.
this robe was made with the beautiful bride-to-be, Anna and her mom using her mother’s 80’s wedding gown. we paired the original back and collar of the dress with our crisp white silk charmeuse to make this gorgeous full length bridal robe. every detail was gone over with Anna and her mom to make sure this is the perfect heirloom piece and use all of the special intimate details of her mother’s original wedding gown.
this bride Monique and i worked together on this truly special robe for her to get ready in on her special day. she wanted to incorporate pieces from all her family members dresses, heirlooms and veils.
using the majority of the beaded lace on the front from her mother’s gown, the back, sleeves and side slit detailing encapsulates everyone from her aunts veil to both her mom, mother in law, grandmother and great-grandmother. we even added a piece of lace from her own gown so it completes the heirloom for the next generation.
the special beaded rose detailing on the tie belt was from the mother of the bride’s wedding dress belt and was replicated on the other end of the belt using beading from the mother in law’s head piece and stock alencón lace to make an asymmetrically matching rose detail.
this bride’s mother came to me with this gorgeous antique bustier that belonged to the brides’ late grandmother to whom she was named after. the bride’s mother very much wanted to make this sentimental heirloom a part of the brides special day, it was really important for her grandmother to be a part of it somehow.
we discussed a piece Nina could wear on the morning of her wedding such as a gown or robe and came up with this gorgeous versatile gown for her daughter. encapsulating the shape and feel of the original bustier this gown is made of silk charmeuse and is an a-line fit that reaches all the way to the floor for an elegant dramatic full length look.
This client was not only a bride-to-be but had also modeled for me in my early years of design. Making this set for her was especially inspiring. Using the beaded lace trim from her Mother’s wedding gown that sparkled with tints of rosie pink. I paired it with a blush silk crepe de chine and silk charmeuse robe that is also detailed with the lace trim.
Both pieces are draped on the bias giving them a luxurious feel and flare. The chemise is semi-sheer on the bodice backed with a nude silk organza to back the lace and provide a bit of structure.
talking with this bride Samantha I knew that she wanted something truly special.
her mom and I discussed the idea of using her wedding dress for the trousseau.
she knew the gown fit her daughter but that she wouldn’t be wearing it for her wedding - and decided she wanted to turn it into a piece that her daughter can have and wear forever, and then possibly even her grand daughter.
encapsulating the elegant details of the silk gown and keeping the material true to form, this elegant ensemble came to be.
using majority of the wedding gown’s fabric and details from the 1980’s, this chemise features a front button closure using the buttons and tule from the original gown and appliquéd lace and tulle details throughout.
the robe, made up of the skirt and train is trimmed with the original lace on the sleeves and hem and really embodies the delicate cut out lace throughout the back of the piece.
coming from a creative family I discussed with the mother of the bride what she had that she thought she’d want to incorporate into her daughters trousseau.
then in the mail i received this gorgeous christening gown that her mom wanted me to use. Enclosed was a long lace infant size gown incorporating the most gorgeous tulle backed lace which was used for the bodice of the chemise. Seeing inspiration for bridal robes from this bride-to-be I knew she wanted something more unique. Pairing the cotton lining for the sleeves and back with a gathered chiffon skirt made this a slightly more dramatic look.
after discussing with the mother of the bride and hearing about her beautiful relationship with both of her grandmothers, she decided to give me an heirloom lace from each.
the robe entails a larger antique lace doily from the brides fathers mother, often used as a decorative table detail appliquéd on to a silk chiffon piece and then stitched at the back of the silk crepe de cine fabrication.
the chemise is made up of small details from the brides mother’s mother. She collected antique napkins which is used as a subtle triangle appliquéd on the inside and is also lined with the lace trim edging of the piece.
using these pieces on the inside of the trousseau allows for the antique vintage qualities to be more understated and is a way to keep the ensemble more modern.
this piece was gifted by the the bride-to-be’s aunt who was referred to me after seeing my work at her friends daughters bridal shower. it was such a thoughtful and beautiful sentiment coming from her aunt who is very close with the bride-to-be. the cotton tulle bodice was a ruffled table runner from one side of her family - delicately lined with silk habotai. the robe encapsulates a crocheted lace doily from the same family as well as a soft piece of cotton fabric used to bind the edge of the robe around the neckline from the other side of her family. I always find it so special when family members are able to collect pieces of fabric or lace from both sides of the family. this piece was truly special as it was given as a surprise by the aunt at the bridal shower and was really a surprise for them both.
this delicate chemise is for the laid back vintage loving bride-to-be who wants something in a more relaxed fabrication. although this is a woven cotton, it is still extremely delicate such as silk making the perfect fabrication for this sweet bridal nightgown. this bride to be had multiple cotton napkins from her grandparents which were used as small delicate details throughout this piece. using the lightly ruffled trim for the hem as well as the corner embroidery detail in the overlap of the bodice.
one of my first and favorite vintage designs is this half slip using vintage french lace and a silk crepe de chine. this half slip skirt is the ultimate perfect layering piece for any summer dress that might be slightly sheer or a skirt that feels a bit short, this slip symbolized my true love for layering and revitalizing these antique lace beauties into a wearable everyday piece. Gladys, my grandma, is my true inspiration, photos of her in the 1950’s and 60’s in high waisted bikinis is my forever inspiration and driving force through all my lingerie and dress designs, just so natural and pure and feminine.
this tank and short set was made for a special client to get ready in. she wanted something more laid back and lounge set inspired so we came up with this cropped bias tank and flared short. the lace was from her grandmother’s wedding dress and it’s paired with a gorgeous lightweight silk charmeuse. the bride wanted something she could wear more often and loved the idea of having a bias silk camisole that she could also pair with jeans outside the house. the flared bias short features an elastic waistband and hemmed with the same lace trim.
this set is truly a special one as the bride-to-be always kept a photo of her late grandmother in her wedding dress in her wallet and the photo has always been extremely special to her. this set and lace is a new symbol of that photo and something she can cherish and pass down to her children and grandchildren.
this classic slip dress was made for a clients sister, to give to her at her shower. the sister and maid of honor chose this lace that bordered a decorative pillow they had in their childhood house growing up. she wanted to include this because, though the pillow was outdated and something maybe they wouldn’t want to have in their house, the lace they always loved and is extremely detailed and delicate. the sentiment of including this piece in this slip dress meant so much to the family as it was a way to keep this heirloom in the family and make it into something that they can keep forever and wear.
this gorgeous rust pink colored lace is paired with a matching silk crepe de chine. it’s finished with dainty spaghetti straps that meet the lace at the back where the slip dips low into a V shape. the bias slip slip dress is a classic piece for sleep, lounge or to get ready in on your special day!
